Human-Machine Interaction

Online

01.04.2021

Current developments in bio-, neuro- and information technologies open up novel possibilities of interaction between humans and machines (HMI), but they might also pose great challenges for the individual as well as society. To explore these challenges, we have co-organized a workshop with the Emmy Noether Research Group on “The Phenomenon of Interaction in Human-Machine Interaction”, located at the Chair of Medical Ethics, Institute of Philosophy, FernUniversität in Hagen (Prof. Dr. Dr. Orsolya Friedrich, Sebastian Schleidgen). This online event takes place from April 21 to 23, 2021. Its focus lies on questions of describability, meaning and potential consequences of novel processes of information acquisition, transfer and exchange in the context of HMIs represented, e.g., by self-tracking devices, brain-computer interfaces and other AI-based technologies. Keynote speakers will be Pieter Adriaans (Amsterdam), Julian Savulescu (Oxford) and Robert Sparrow (Melbourne). To register, please send an email to meliz-sema.kaygusuz@fernuni-hagen.de.
