Methods to Incorporate Patient Preferences into Medical Decision Making
Invited Speaker: Tommi Tervonen, PhD, chief scientist at Kielo Research
Patient Preferences Across the Medicine Lifecycle
Abstract: Patient preference data is commonly used to understand how patients value different benefits, side effects, and administration features of medical products. In this presentation, I will discuss the use of patient preferences across the medicine's lifecycle, from clinical development through regulatory authorization and health technology assessment to informing shared decision-making at the point of care. I will present influential studies that have changed how treatment benefits are perceived in respiratory diseases, oncology, and immunology. Finally, I will outline the key current methodological and applied research questions.
Tommi Tervonen, PhD, is the chief scientist at Kielo Research. Dr. Tervonen is an expert in using patient preferences for drug development, he has served as principal investigator in dozens of patient preference studies.
